Since the last operating day last spring, the volunteers who take care of #113 have not rested. Along with the myriad small tasks required to keep a steam locomotive up, two larger jobs have occupied them: replacing a broken brake cylinder head, and fabricating jacketing for the boiler and steam chests. You can see pictures of the latter process at on the "Other Restoration Work" page, and photos of the old and new brake cylinder head appear here and on the "Patternmaking" page. In the photo here, the new cylinder head, along with the piston head and spring, appear in the waiting room of the Minersville Station, standing about two and a half feet high.
